Blackburn is the moral — the 'kindness first' that's the treatment's radical, the 'Stribling' that's the doctor's name. The 'Jefferson taught' is the styled — the 'protégé' that's the architect's link, the 'spiral stair' that's the cupola's climb. The 'only marriage' is the claimed — the 'physician architect' that's the collab's rare, the 'grounds heal' that's the design's aim.
The 'turned dark' is the shifted — the 'DeJarnette' that's the eugenicist's name, the 'sterilized' that's the horror's act. The 'prison next' is the cycled — the '1981' that's the bars' year, the 'skeleton keys' that's the doors' left. Blackburn is the slept — the 'hotel now' that's the use's third, the 'sun porch' that's the bistro's spot.
The file keeps Blackburn: the moral treatment, the Jefferson student, the dark turn, and the sleeping guests.
Blackburn Inn is the archive's Virginia file — the asylum where care turned cruel then turned hotel.

WHY THIS FILE MATTERS
Blackburn Inn is the archive's Virginia file — the building that cycled asylum to prison to inn.
An inn keeps its keys — the file's suggestion being that Blackburn's hold is the cycled: the 'moral' that's the first aim's kind, the 'eugenics' that's the dark's mark, and the 'skeleton' that's the doors' left.

FILED CLAIMS — 1 on record, reported not verified
· [Documented legend] unspecified haunting: Tourism recounts voices, moving windows and showers starting. The Staunton hotel's reports are the kind old lodgings accumulate — footsteps after hours, presences in rooms, the house working the night shift. The account has a collector's pedigree — written down as legend, which is the most honest status it can hold. The account appears in 'Staunton Haunted Locations'. It's the kind of claim that outlives debunkings — too many witnesses, too few explanations.
