The hamlet in Orange County's Shawangunk Ridge country became famous in the 1980s for a concentrated wave of reported UFO sightings — the Hudson Valley 'flap' of boomerang- and triangle-shaped craft — a body of witness accounts substantial enough that Ellen Crystall's 1991 book Silent Invasion made Pine Bush a case study and tourism sources began calling it the UFO capital of the East Coast.","The sightings were never anything more than reported — which is exactly the status the file assigns them — but they were reported often, by many people, and they never quite stopped."]},{"heading":"The museum","paragraphs":["The Pine Bush UFO & Paranormal Museum opened at 86 Main Street in June 2021, a project of the Town of Crawford built on the success of the annual UFO fair the community has run since 2011. Its exhibits walk visitors through reported Hudson Valley events: a sightings timeline stretching back to the early twentieth century, a map of unidentified submerged objects, a recreated Sasquatch account from Tivoli, and a furnished room reproducing Montgomery's reportedly haunted Patchett House.","The file's framing is the honest one: the museum interprets a century of local and regional accounts — it archives the reports rather than adjudicating them."]}],"name":"Pine Bush UFO & Paranormal Museum","aliases":[],"type":"MUSEUM","type_label":"Museum","cats":["UFO_HISTORY","FOLKLORE_COLLECTION"],"groups":["institutions"],"desc":"Museum research record.","full_desc":"A museum in Pine Bush, New York, Pine Bush UFO & Paranormal Museum is filed here for what the record attaches to it.
