The rush broke in March 1906; the Reno Evening Gazette reported forty rigs leaving Lovelock in five hours, and by spring 1907 automobile stages were hauling a claimed eight hundred people a day into the district.","Four camps rose in the canyon — Seven Troughs, Vernon, Mazuma, and Farrell. Seven Troughs, sitting nearest the best ground, outlasted them as the district's center: the townsite was platted in June 1907, a post office followed that July, and by 1908 the camp of about 350 had a hotel, saloons, stores, a water system, a school, and stages to Lovelock at five dollars a seat."]},{"heading":"Twelve years of ore","paragraphs":["The district produced on the order of two million dollars in gold between 1908 and 1918, anchored by the ten-stamp Kindergarten mill and, after 1911, the Coalition cyanide plant. The 1912 flash flood that gutted neighboring Mazuma — killing residents in a wall of water down the same canyon — damaged the Coalition works and marked the beginning of the slide; wartime closures finished it. The post office closed in 1918 and the town shrank to a handful of transient miners.","What remains is a canyon of ruins and foundations on a district road — the file keeps it as ghost-town heritage, per its research notes, with no haunting claim implied and parcel access unverified."]}],"name":"Seven Troughs","aliases":[],"type":"GHOST_TOWN","type_label":"Ghost Town","cats":["GHOST_TOWN"],"groups":["ghost-towns"],"desc":"Historic settlement and ghost-town heritage.","full_desc":"A ghost town in Seven Troughs, Nevada, Seven Troughs is filed here for what the record attaches to it.
