George and Kathleen Lutz moved into 112 Ocean Avenue on December 18, 1975 — and fled 28 days later, claiming voices, swarming flies, cold spots and a pig-like entity named Jodie. Jay Anson's book became a phenomenon; subsequent owners lived quietly for decades, and investigators generally regard the haunting as a hoax layered on the real DeFeo tragedy.
