The June 17, 1876 battle is documented. The site's documented history is the record the rest of the file stands on. The record holds it as fact — documented, not retold. The detail is preserved in 'Rosebud'. It anchors the timeline the rest of the file hangs from. It remains the site's standing claim.
Decker, Montana - 1999eventCape Hatteras Lighthouse
In summer 1999, engineers slid the 4,830-ton Cape Hatteras Lighthouse 2,900 feet inland on steel rails — the 'move of the century' — to escape beach erosion that had put the surf at its base. It took 23 days at a few feet per move and saved the tallest brick lighthouse in America from becoming a dive site; the old foundation pad still marks the shoreline.
