Sources attach this name to the 1 place below. The name itself is part of the folklore record.
A tourism retelling describes Hāʻupu throwing stones at canoes mistakenly perceived as invaders. Hāʻupu's reports travel the way outdoor lore does — by campfire, trailhead, and local warning. Sources including 'Kauai's Legendary Giants' keep the claim in circulation. The file keeps Hāʻupu on the roster; the sightings keep the name alive.
