Plummer's gang — the road agents hanged by Bannack's vigilantes in 1864 — are the ghost town's rougher presences: the lore that the executed men are still seen near the gallows site and in the buildings they once robbed. The vigilante executions are documented; the apparitions are the town's justice still working.
