Skinwalker/dire wolf

Sources attach this name to the 1 place below. The name itself is part of the folklore record.

The 'dire' or skinwalker wolf is the ranch's named beast — the giant canid of the Sherman reports, impervious to gunfire, tied by Uintah Basin lore to the Navajo skinwalker tradition. Whatever the Shermans saw, the image of a wolf that can't be killed became the ranch's emblem. The wolf became the ranch's emblem.
