Legend holds that Stuckey — the murderous innkeeper who preyed on river-crossing travelers — was hanged from the bridge that now bears his name; his swinging lantern and phantom figure are said to appear on the span. Stuckey is the rare ghost who named the site: the bridge is literally called after its own murderer.
