The Essex crew
Sources attach this name to the 1 place below. The name itself is part of the folklore record.
The crew is reportedly remembered. The presences go by the Essex crew in the file. Essex whaleship's file is thin on proof and long on persistence — the standard profile of American place-lore. The name travels further than the proof; the sightings keep renewing the lease. The file stays open on it.
