The shanghaied
Sources attach this name to the 1 place below. The name itself is part of the folklore record.
The shanghaied are the Shanghai Tunnels' collective dead — the men legend says were dropped through bar-floor 'deadfalls' into the tunnels and sold to ships. The tunnels are real; the trapdoor mechanics are the folklore layer on documented waterfront kidnapping. The tunnels keep their story below street level.
