White River Monster ("Whitey")

'Whitey' — the White River Monster — is Newport's named cryptid: the gray, horned creature reported surfacing in the river, most famously in the 1971 sightings that brought national press and a state legislative refuge designation. Arkansas's only legislatively protected monster. The reports keep the address on the map.
