Is Apostle Islands haunted?

The record holds 2 claims, 1 legend, 1 named entity — filed as reported, not verified. The heaviest filing is classed documented legend. The archive documents the claim; it takes no position on the ghost.

The record — long form

The Apostle Islands are Lake Superior's sacred archipelago — the Ojibwe homeland's islands, where the maritime history and the indigenous record meet on water that keeps its wrecks and its dead.

The file's documented spine is the islands' double heritage: Ojibwe ground and graveyard of ships, the Apostles being the lake's most storied water — a place where the sacred and the drowned share the same map.

The Apostles' dead

The lore is documented folklore — the islands' reports being the lake's residue: a place where Ojibwe tradition and maritime loss made a legend layer over water that already had one.

The islands' dead are the file's signature — Superior's shipwrecked and the Ojibwe's ancestors sharing the same archipelago, the Apostles keeping every kind of dead the water takes.

Why this file matters

The Apostles are the archive's sacred-water file — Ojibwe islands holding maritime dead, the lake's wrecks and the people's ancestors in the same water. The documented heritage is the record; the lingering presence is the lore.

Islands that hold the sacred and the drowned keep both — the file's suggestion being that the Apostles' water still keeps everyone it ever took.
