Is Calabasas haunted?
The record holds 1 claim — filed as reported, not verified. The heaviest filing is classed anecdotal. The archive documents the claim; it takes no position on the ghost.
The record — long form
Calabasas is the mission that became a ranch that became a fort — the 1756 visita where Father Pauer moved 78 O'odham from their riverside village, the church that was half-built in 1761 and burned by Apaches in 1777, the Sonora governor's hacienda and the Army post that got malaria. It's inside Tumacácori National Historical Park.
The site was the layers — the mission that lasted 30 years until the Apache raids emptied it, the stock ranch for Tumacácori, Manuel Gándara's 6,000-head hacienda in the old church, Fort Mason where 300 of 400 California Volunteers got sick. By 1878 it was a roofless shell.
The ruins are still there — the adobe walls on the bluff over the Santa Cruz, the tour-only access from Tumacácori, the layers from O'odham village to mission to ranch to fort. The file keeps the site: the 1756 mission, the Apache fires, and the ruin that's the valley's palimpsest.
Calabasas is the archive's mission file — the visita, the hacienda, the fort, and the ruin that's every layer of the borderlands.
Why this file matters
Calabasas is the archive's mission file — the O'odham visita, the Apache-burned church, and the layers that are the Santa Cruz Valley's history.
A site that was everything keeps its walls — the file's suggestion being that Calabasas's hold is the layers: the mission church that's a ranch house that's a fort, the Apaches who emptied it twice, and the ruin that's the valley's whole story.

CalabasasThe record of claims
Reported a presence at the site. Calabasas' file is thin on proof and long on persistence — the standard profile of American place-lore. Witness accounts, no evidence file: the claim is anecdotal and stays that way. It is the sighting the place is known for, and it hasn't stopped. The file stays open on it.
Documented history
The site’s history is documented. A documented history gives the file real substance; this entry is part of that spine. It's verified history: the dossier's load-bearing detail. Sources including 'Calabasas' carry the record. The record keeps it — history, not lore. It remains the site's standing claim.
