Is Rohs Opera House haunted?

The record holds 1 claim — filed as reported, not verified. The heaviest filing is classed investigation claim. The archive documents the claim; it takes no position on the ghost.

The record — long form

The Rohs Opera House on Pike Street bills itself as Kentucky's oldest continuously operating theater, and its biography has two floors. The Aeolian Hall Music Association built a $16,000, 500-seat hall on the building's second story in 1871; H.A. Rohs bought it in 1873 and gave it the family name, and silent pictures joined the program by 1914. In 1940–41 the family built a new 750-seat auditorium on the ground floor — the 'New Rohs,' opened with 'Down Argentine Way' at a nickel a seat — leaving the original opera house intact and vacant upstairs, where it still sits.

The Rohs family counts actor Chris O'Donnell among its descendants, which the theater mentions the way small-town institutions do.

The lady in the balcony

Kentucky After Dark's listing reports investigators' apparition claims, concentrated — as theater hauntings tend to be — in the booth, the balcony and toward the stage. The house's signature figure is the 'Lady of the Opera House,' a young woman in a long white dress said to glide the central staircase and the upstairs hallway and to have been captured on film in the balcony; October ghost walks depart from the lobby.

All of it is filed as investigation claim and theater legend — an upstairs hall preserved empty since 1941 makes an apt container. The dossier asserts the building's documented run, not the woman.

The record of claims

Investigation claimHaunting

Kentucky After Dark reports investigators’ apparition claims. The theatre's reports favor the booth, the balcony, and the stage — the building's own logic of where a ghost would linger. It originates in investigator claims — compelling inside the team's log, unverifiable outside it. 'Rohs Opera House' carries the account. The haunting claim is now part of the site's identity, filed alongside the documented history.
