    Nuʻuanu Pali Lookout

    In May 1795, Kamehameha's army drove the defenders of O'ahu up the Nu'uanu Valley to the pali — where hundreds were forced over the thousand-foot cliffs in the battle that united the Hawaiian Islands under one king.     Chinese Massacre Cove

    In May 1887, a gang of white horse thieves murdered about 34 Chinese gold miners at Deep Creek on the Oregon side of Hells Canyon — shooting them in camp, mutilating the bodies, and sailing off with their gold. Three men were tried and acquitted; nobody was ever punished. The site was officially named 'Chinese Massacre Cove' in 2005 as belated acknowledgment.
