Is Balinese Room site haunted?

The record holds 2 claims, 1 legend, 1 named entity — filed as reported, not verified. The heaviest filing is classed documented legend. The archive documents the claim; it takes no position on the ghost.

The record — long form

The Balinese Room was Galveston's casino — the Maceo brothers' gambling palace on the pier, decades of illegal elegance ending in 2008 when Hurricane Ike took the building, the site being the spot where the island's most storied vice finally met a force bigger than the law.

The file's documented spine is the casino's era: the Maceos' club being the Gulf's most famous illegal room, its destruction by Ike being the end the Texas Rangers never managed — the storm doing what the raids couldn't.

The Maceos' dead

The lore reports the Maceos' dead remembered — the file's haunting being the casino family's residue: the brothers who ran Galveston's vice reportedly still at the site where their palace stood, the pier keeping the ghosts of the empire the water took.

The Maceos' presence is the file's signature — a casino dynasty reportedly still at the site the hurricane emptied, the Balinese Room's ghosts being the men who built the island's golden age of sin.

Why this file matters

The Balinese Room site is the archive's washed-away file — a casino palace destroyed by Ike, keeping the Maceos reportedly still at the site. The documented decades and the storm's end are the record; the lingering dynasty is the lore.

A pier that held a casino keeps its owners — the file's suggestion being that the Maceos never left the water their palace stood over.

Balinese Room
Reference shelf · Wikipedia

The Balinese Room was a famous nightclub in Galveston, Texas, United States built on a pier stretching 600 feet (183 m) from the Galveston Seawall over the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. For decades a dance hall and illegal casino, the Balinese Room was remodeled and reopened in 2001 without a casino. During the early morning hours of September 13, 2008, the structure was destroyed by Hurricane Ike. Operated by Sicilian barbers-turned-bootleggers Sam and Rosario Maceo, the Balinese Room (also known as Maceo's Grotto) was an elite spot in the 1930s and 1940s (Galveston's open era), featuring entertainment by Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, George Burns, the Marx Brothers and other top acts of the day
