The record — long form

Lynchburg is a town of about six thousand in Moore County — a dry county that happens to hold the nation's oldest registered distillery, Jack Daniel's, in business since 1866. Company Distilling is the newcomer by a century and a half: founded in 2021 by Kris Tatum and Jeff Arnett, the former Jack Daniel's master distiller, it opened its Lynchburg location in May 2025 on the downtown square, four blocks from the Jack Daniel's visitor center, in premises that had previously held Lynchburg Winery and American Craft Distillers. Arnett called it a full-circle return to the town where his whiskey career began.

What's reported

Tennessee Tourism's haunted-destinations coverage files voices, objects moving where they shouldn't, and mimic-like sounds in the building — the standard inventory of a working hall with old bones. Nothing in the filing predates the distillery's arrival, so the reports attach to the building's longer commercial past on the Lynchburg square rather than to the stills.

The file's posture is honest: a real address, a real 2025 opening, and a brand-new layer of folklore in the one Tennessee town where whiskey history never needed ghosts to draw a crowd.
