Is Comer House haunted?

The record holds 1 claim, 1 legend — filed as reported, not verified. The heaviest filing is classed documented legend. The archive documents the claim; it takes no position on the ghost.

The record — long form

The Comer House on Nashville Pike in Gallatin has had three owners' names and two buildings, and the land remembers all of it. John Franklin settled the property in 1807 as Woodlawn Plantation; it passed through Franklin heirs until 1867, when Thomas Black Wilson and Lucy Cragwell bought it. Their son Thomas Jr. farmed it into the mid-1930s, then sold to Guy Comer — a Nashville businessman and founder of Washington Manufacturing Company in Madison — who built the Comer Barn and, in the 1950s, demolished the original house and raised the present one on its foundation.

The house now serves as Sumner County Tourism's headquarters, which is how it came by its dossier: Tennessee's official tourism channels record employee reports of voices and moving furniture in the building, and the county's Spirits of Sumner haunted-history bus tour departs from its address.

Filed as reported

The file keeps those claims in their proper tense — staff experiences reported through tourism coverage, not investigated findings — and the research notes ask that confidence figures be read as provenance rather than endorsement.

What anchors the entry is the house's documented layering: an 1807 settlement, a nineteenth-century farm, a mid-century rebuild on the old foundation, and a modern civic use that put its staff's accounts into the public record.
