Is Golden Plough Inn haunted?
The record holds 1 claim — filed as reported, not verified. The heaviest filing is classed reported experience. The archive documents the claim; it takes no position on the ghost.
The record — long form
At the core of the Golden Plough Inn, inside Peddler's Village in Lahaska, is a two-story stone tavern built in the mid-1800s — a stagecoach stop on Old York Road between New York and Philadelphia, in a Quaker-settled village that had a post office by March 1844 under first postmaster Thomas Betts. Earl Jamison bought the rundown farm property in 1962 and built Peddler's Village around its barns and outbuildings; the inn itself opened in 1987 with ten rooms and added nearly sixty more by 1998 as second-story shop space converted to guest rooms.
The postmaster's rounds
The village's own haunted-history telling names the resident: Thomas Betts, that first postmaster, is said to still make his rounds through the lobby. The reported experiences are catalogued small — a night auditor returning to find coffee stirrers arranged in a line across the lobby floor, phone calls placed to the front desk from unoccupied rooms, lights switching on, a dark figure at the end of the second-floor hallway outside room 202. In one telling, staff answering loud noises in empty room 202 found the television on and a deep voice asking what they wanted.
Bucks County Paranormal Investigations filmed a session after a guest reported a full-body apparition in room 123 in February 2020. The dossier files all of it as reported experience — a mid-1800s tavern inside a 1962 shopping village, holding the oldest kind of hotel story.
The record of claims
Employees report sounds and telephone activity in empty rooms, plus hallway shadows. Golden Plough Inn, a hotel in New Hope, Pennsylvania, has kept the story in circulation longer than most of its guest registers. Witnesses report it; the record leaves it there. The account appears in 'Haunted Hotels in Pennsylvania'. Small phenomena, steadily reported: the file's most honest kind of haunting.
