Is International Paranormal Museum haunted?

No claims are filed here — the record keeps this place for its documented history, not for a haunting on file.

The record — long form

For seven years the basement of Somerset's Carnegie Community Arts Center — a downtown landmark that has served as post office, public library, and arts center — held the International Paranormal Museum and Research Center, opened in 2017 by collector-investigator Kyle Kadel and his partners. Its thousand-plus items ran the full weird-American register: Bigfoot track casts and a ten-foot Bigfoot, Mothman and Hopkinsville-goblin lore, haunted dolls named Elizabeth and Robert, a cursed bourbon bottle, a two-headed duck, Charles Manson's toenail clippings, and a showroom mannequin called Gladys that more than thirty visitors have claimed to watch wink or blink.

About sixteen thousand people paid the four-dollar admission in its first six years — a respectable run for a basement full of the unexplained.

Folklore, curated

The museum's own framing matches the archive's: Kadel has said he treats the collection as folklore and history more than proof — 'whether or not the Mothman is out there stalking people, he's in our minds and in our lives.' The research notes hold the same line: exhibits are not independently authenticated supernatural objects, and the tourism page's county-superlative and quartz claims were excluded from the file.

The museum left the Carnegie building in late 2024 in transition to a new home, which is the dossier's own status — a paranormal museum that keeps its claims, like its specimens, in clearly labeled cases.
