Houses

A private house files differently than a public building: fewer witnesses, longer tenures, a single family carrying a report across decades or a procession of owners discovering the same reputation independently. The dossiers note that most of these addresses are not open to anyone — the record exists, the living room does not. Claims attached to houses are among the hardest to corroborate and, often for that reason, among the most persistent.
