Missions with a file in California

8 California dossiers sit on consecrated ground — churches, missions and the burial ground folded in beside them. Congregations keep records and clergy have occasionally put reports in writing, so these files carry a particular documentary texture. The archive logs what was reported without asking the building to take a position on it.
