Raymond Snowden — called 'Idaho's Jack the Ripper' by the press — was hanged at the penitentiary on October 18, 1957, for the mutilation murder of Cora Dean. His was Idaho's last execution by hanging, and the gallows where he dropped remains one of the most-visited stops on the Old Pen's ghost tours — staff report the area is a hotspot for visitors' unease.
