Caves with a file in West Virginia

3 West Virginia dossiers concern the ground itself — terrain that drew a claim before anyone built on it. The record begins with the feature: a rock, a hollow, a stretch of country with a reputation older than the roads around it. These filings lean toward folklore rather than eyewitness accounts, and the archive marks them accordingly.
