A vessel is a building that moves, and its dossier travels with it — or stays at the dock where it is moored. Ship filings are compact and specific: crew manifests, documented deaths aboard, reports from the same cabins and engine rooms across different watches. Museum ships carry the additional record of staff and overnight guests. What was reported aboard is filed as reported; the archive does not go below the waterline.
